The OmniBasic compiler, integrated development environment (IDE), and any program written and compiled by OmniBasic
are portable to any of the listed platforms.
This means, for example, that an OmniBasic program written and compiled on a Windows 98 system can be sent to a Linux system and recompiled with NO CHANGE whatsoever. The program will then run on
either system and behave and appear identically in each case.
The OmniBasic compiler itself (also
written in OmniBasic) also exhibits this portable behavior. This means
that the IDE and compiler also behave and appear identically on each platform listed.
This portability enables the developer to write a program on any of the listed systems and compile it on any or all of the platforms. An inventory systems written on Windows NT can then be offered for sale to a wider range of target systems with absolutely no extra effort on the developer's part. As other platforms are added to the list, an even larger target base will become available.
