High performance, compact executable code
OmniBasic goes back to the basics of code generation. The developers of OmniBasic go back to when 32k of memory was all you had to work with and 8 Mhz was fast. Code back then was compact and fast out of necessity. With the advent of faster processors and more memory, programming requirements were less critical in general and many programming languages were able to add bells and whistles to improve convenience at the price of size and speed.
Hardware improvements masked the performance hit that was being taken on the speed and size of code. OmniBasic grew out of this era maintaining an emphasis on speed and code size. When we claim compact code as compared to a comparable program written in any other basic or even C, our executable code is self contained. It does not require you to install additional dll's or even to tie into the registry on a given machine in order to operate. This also simplifies the installation requirements and eliminates some of the compatibility pitfalls that exist in other products such as unexpected dependencies and huge install files.
